Sydney Engelberg is a 45 year old veteran lecturer at the Hebrew University based in Jerusalem. He remained calm as a mother’s child in her class started to cry when he was delivering his lecture on organizational behaviour. The mother was embarrassed by the situation and was just about to leave the class when the lecturer decided to step in. The father of four and grand father of five took the kid in his arms without having to stop the lecture.
Engelberg’s daughter explained that the lecturer allows all mothers attending his lectures to bring their children along. Infact, he even has no issues with the mothers breastfeeding their children in the class. According to Engelberg, mothers should not have to decide between their education and their children. He believes that education is not just about learning dry facts in the class but also, and more importantly, to learn values.
