Urine comes in many different colours; blue, green, yellow and even red at times. It has got to be said; though, that having the urine feature so many colours isn’t exactly a healthy thing. Thus, it is a good thing to be able to judge the state of your health by the colour of your urine.
Urine in red is a sign of infections in the urinary track or kidney disease. At times, it is not so serious as you may have had food with some specific pigment that caused this. Beets is one example which produces beeturia that results in pink or red-coloured urine. This is attributable to a compound named, Betanin.
Given the use of this variety of colours of urine, Cleveland Clinic has designed an infographic regarding the shades of urine. The Ohio based not-for-profit academic medical center suggests visiting a doctor if you are concerned about the chaning colours of the urine. It is interesting to note that contrary to Mayo Clinic’s claims, the infographic dismisses the presence of any such thing as purple pee.
