The worst thing to see when you’re playing a game of Angry Birds, watching a movie, or even checking your Twitter/Facebook feed on your iPad or iPhone is that pop-up saying you have only so much battery left and you’ll need to charge your device. Then you’re left plugging it in to the nearest charger and just waiting to use it once again. But what if you had something entertaining to do that charged your smartphone or tablet at the same time? Then say hello to the iRock, a rocking chair charger.
The new kind of rocking chair is not only a charging dock but a nice entertainment system as well with its built-in stereo speakers that are also powered by your rocking motions. This is a finely-finished piece of furniture, crafted from Swedish wood and comes in 5 different colors – white, black, green, blue or red.
To charge your iDevice, just place it in the armrest docking part that is angled for the perfect view of the screen. By rocking the chair, the generator in the legs harness the kinetic energy to power the speakers and charging port. An hour of rocking is said to charge the 3rd-gen iPad 35% of capacity. It will all cost just $1,685 and be delivered in about late 2013.
