The Internet has continually been a great tool for encouraging and sharing creative products by people from all over the world. Part of that creativity has been to produce awesome avatars to represent ourselves on various social media sites; however, many people have started using pictures of themselves instead of another persona ever since the introduction of sites like Facebook and MySpace. One artist, Dito Von Tease, wants to fight against this pattern and promote more imaginative means like his collection of fingertip portraits.
Dito is not his real name of course, that would be highly contradictory, but what we do know is that he is an Italian art director fascinated with the art of the avatar. He chose fingertips as his medium because of an old proverb that states, “You cannot hide behind a finger.” So he contradicts this belief using famous faces and Photoshop to inspire others to create their own avatar outlet.
You can find more of his work at Ditology and perhaps come up with your own idea of a personal avatar. Who else would you like to see on a finger tip, or do you have a better medium for these well-known faces? Let us know in the comments.
