We all know the hype and level of speculation that surrounds an Apple device launch and there was nothing like it until the success of Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphone series. The success in the smartphone world has been hailed by both Samsung and Android fans and now not only those loyal to Korean tech giant’s flagship smartphone series but all gadget enthusiasts around the world seem to be extremely excited about its third iteration the Galaxy S III.
Rumours and Speculations are in abundance, every day we see a new insider about this most anticipated handset of the year, and thankfully enough Samsung finally sent out press invites to a launch event for its S III smartphone to be held on May 3 in London. Negating general belief that this launch date would slow down the rumour mill, more and more promising rumours have started to surface on the net, so we decided to give you a round-up of these rumours letting you know what to expect by the time it’s officially launched.
We begin with an intriguing line present in the press invites that read “come and meet the next Galaxy”. Rumour has it that Samsung might follow in Apple’s foot steps of naming the next iteration to just Samsung Galaxy S rather than S III. This seems plausible when seen in context of another rumour that this new iteration would only be a minor upgrade to the Galaxy S II just as iPhone 4S was to iPhone 4. Earlier this week a CNET report quoted a U.K telecom industry’s source saying,
Samsung Galaxy S III would be “a relatively minor update with a speed boost and eye-tracking among the upgrades”
It further added “Don’t expect it to be called the S III”.
The next rumour is extremely hard to believe and that is — the smartphone has appeared on Amazon Germany for preorder. According to this listing the specs of the device include a 4.7 inch Super AMOLED screen, 12-megapixel camera, 16 GB storage expandable to 32GB and Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The listing offers the device at $791 or 599 euro’s.
In general the new version would be powered by a quad-core Exynos processor equipped with a built-in LTE radio — may come in both 3G and LTE versions separately. It will also sport a Super AMOLED ‘Plus’ display capable of 316 ppi pixel density that would provide a crystal clear true HD resolution.
Rumours regarding its interface claim that it will possess a 5-column layout but there is much debate if it would have a physical home button or soft buttons i.e. software buttons on the screen. Here are the summarised features according to different rumours:
- Two models with 16 and 32 GB storage
- Ultra Thin Ceramic Case
- Two colour styles, Black and Blue and other is White

- 8 or 12 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front camera
