Google Project Glass: A Cool Way To A Smarter Vision

Google has given us a preview of its amazingly cool spectacles which are not any ordinary fashion glasses rather a leap into the future of technology and as Google likes to term it ‘Augmented Reality’.

Project Glass, an ambitious endeavour under development in the highly secretive Google X lab, released some photos and videos on Wednesday as a preview into its long rumoured attempt at re-shaping the spectacles to turn them into smart glasses.

The video titled “One Day..” posted below portrays a day in the life of such a spectacle wearer where he wakes up to the glasses booting up and then a series of icons are presented in his line of sight while he munches on his breakfast and all the while remains connected with the rest of the world with this unrealistic piece of technology. Further on we see the spectacles to be voice operated allowing him to perform routine tasks, connecting with friends and finding his way to the book shop in New York.

All that sounds dazzling and awesome to see in a video but the fact remains that its only a concept at the moment and really mass producing something like this is still a big question.

Working on the project for a long time the geeks at Google are now looking for any kind of input they can get on the design and feature of these goggles, hence in a post on the Project Glass Google+ page they invited thinkers from all around the world to help them take these glasses into the right direction

Please follow along as we share some of our ideas and stories. We’d love to hear yours, too. What would you like to see from Project Glass?

I know most of you must be gawking at the moment, thinking of buying them as soon as they are in stores but reality is they are far from practical, they can divert the focus of vision, intrude your privacy all the time, what about those who need vision correcting etc. Moreover am a bit skeptical about the idea of being immersed in the technology, lost in my own virtual world every second of the day as if smartphones and tablets weren’t enough to make us forget what’s really going on around us. Do you want to have such intrusion in your life? Let us know in comments what you make of this concept.
