Apple Inc. has become the top smartphone manufacturer in the world with 37 million iPhones sold in Q1 of 2012 — well, Samsung’s reign at the top didn’t last long.
The Company sold 37.04 million iPhones in the quarter, representing 128 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter.
According to latest estimates, the Cupertino based company sold around 37 million iPhones in the first quarter of 2012 compared to Samsung’s 35 million smartphones shipped (not sold).
The launch of iPhone 4S, 1$ iPhone 3GS(on contract) and the holiday season played a vital role in the company’s success. CEO Tim Cook expressed his delight on achieving the feat by saying,
We’re thrilled with our outstanding results and record-breaking sales of iPhones, iPads and Macs. Apple’s momentum is incredibly strong, and we have some amazing new products in the pipeline.
