This new update, version 1.5, brings a lot of new features with it for iPhone, iPod Touch as well as the iPad.

We have enlisted a number of new features that this app has brought with it,

  • Night-Time Reading
The best one we could find is a new theme, that will allow you to do night-time reading without stressing your eyes. This functions in the way that it inverts colors so that you can read books on your iOS device at night without putting stress on your eyes.

  • Full Screen Layout
Another great feature, which should have been implemented a long time ago, is that now you can read books in a full screen mode without the status bar on the top irritating you.
  • Increased Number Of Fonts
iBooks 1.5 also features some new fonts such as Athelas, Charter, Iowan, and Seravek.
  •  Redesigned annotation palette
It will be a lot easier now to choose your favorite color for the highlighted text with a completely redesigned annotation palette.

And off-course as is usual with every app update, this update also brings a few bug fixes and a little increase in performance.

According to Apple about iBooks update,

iBooks 1.5 adds the following new features as well as some stability and performance improvements:

• Night-time reading theme makes reading books in the dark easier on the eyes.

• Full-screen layout lets you focus on the words without distraction.

• iBooks now features an improved selection of fonts, including Athelas, Charter, Iowan, and Seravek.

• Beautiful new classic covers for public domain books.

• A redesigned annotation palette makes it easier to choose a color for your highlighted text.

Considering this app is available for a smartphone, then it is an absolutely brilliant app as not many apps offer such features for a smartphone.

While if you consider it on the iPad, then it is nothing much, cause if you are serious about E-reading, then surely you should go and get yourself an E-book reader, like the Nook or the Kindle. But if you are not a “heavy E-book reader” and you own an iPad, then this one is the best for you. Just go to the App Store, and fetch yourself the latest version of iBooks.
