People over at AnandTech have done some research over smartphone popularity; a very popular subject indeed. Their research contains differentiation of different smartphones in different aspects. Tests such as GPU loading, browser speed as well as JavaScript loading were performed on latest smartphones such as the Google Galaxy Nexus as well as the iPhone 4S.
Their research has been integrated into two lists. One of them is a list in which various smartphones are categorized in terms of BrowserMark speed test score and the other list that contains smartphones sorted by overall performance while loading Javascripts.
Google’s latest flagship device the Galaxy Nexus running their newest Ice Cream Sandwich operating system came out on top of each list leaving behind popular smartphones such as the iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S2 as well as the Motorola Droid Razr.
However, the Galaxy Nexus lacks one much needed ability i.e. GPU loading — fell behind the iPhone 4S as well as the Samsung Galaxy SII in terms of GPU loading.
Even though iPhone 4S faced a lot of criticism over battery issues and several other fatal bugs, it still outperformed most of its competitors in above mentioned benchmark tests. With new iOS 5 upgrade coming soon, the phone’s performance will surely improve.
