Google Docs Viewer Now Supports 12 More File Types

According to the official Google Docs Blog, the Google Docs Viewer now supports a dozen new file types other than just PDFs, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents. Formats like Adobe Photoshop (.PSD) & Adobe Illustrator (.AI) are perhaps the best new add-ons.

Here’s the list of new file types that you can view on Google Docs:

  • Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX — before, only .ppt and .pps were supported)
  • Apple Pages (.PAGES)
  • Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
  • Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
  • Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
  • Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
  • PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
  • TrueType (.TTF)
  • XML Paper Specification (.XPS)

The thing to remember is that you can only view files in the above mentioned formats — you will need the original applications to create files in these formats.

Any other file format(s) you like to see viewable in the Google Docs viewer???? Let us know in comments. 😀
