Microsoft has finally revealed sales figures for its new Windows Phone 7 smartphones. According to official sales number a staggering 1.5 million sales have been made to mobile operators and retailers.(no official word on devices sold to end users)
Figures were revealed by Achim Berg, VP of business and marketing for Windows Phones, in a Q&A posted on Microsoft’s website. Berg says the number is “in line” with our expectations especially when compared to other new platform introductions.
We would say that 1.5 million is a very small number when you consider the platform launched on 10 devices in 30+ countries. It also shows the cautious buying approach of smartphone industry into Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.
