Well, well. What a dilemma. My nephew, 12, already content! It came as a shock as I asked him a month before his birthday if there was anything in particular that he wanted. He just shrugged with a “Don’t mind. There isn’t anything I want really.” Having gotten so used to the fact that I had bought him a present for every one of his birthdays, I was determined to get him something nevertheless. Also, as a nice surprise, I wanted to get him a gift much bigger and better than what I’ve given him before.
And so began my adventure to find him the perfect present, but a daunting obstacle was going to obstruct my path; prices. And in this case, my internet research took me to many unknown places that I had only just discovered. Immediately, I can say that if you’re finding a good toy or gift for a son or nephew or even finding a gift in general, do some research first, discover what discounts might be going around, whether that be coupon limited, season specific or permanent. The internet is so vast that whatever you’re looking for, there’s bound to be a sale on it at some time and at some place.
In my searches I sometimes found that browsing specialty websites over the traditional shopping sites like Amazon would lead me to better deals. For example, I first started looking for video games and I found some deals on sites like Gamestation to be much cheaper. Then I realised I wasn’t being very original and knew I should get him something extra special. So I turned my eyes to musical instruments. I knew he had considered starting guitar in recent conversation and so I started on Amazon when I found an ideal starter pack. But before I made my decision, I discovered a bunch of music specialty sites which had some much better deals and much better quality instruments, which included websites like Guitar Center and Gear 4 Music.
This isn’t to say at all that sites like Amazon and Ebay are great for deals. You’ve just got to make sure you catch that deal at the right moment and you’ll often find tempting deals on things you never considered before. Daily deal sites like Groupon for example will come up with crazily cheap deals on shopping at short moments, so it’s really about keeping up to date with certain websites that are very deal-heavy.
And if you’re still wondering, I got him that guitar starter pack in the end and he’s already making a racket with his metal music!
